CBS This Morning special report on Alaska’s thawing permafrost features WHRC’s Arctic research

Last month, CBS News sent a film crew to Alaska to report on the climate threat of thawing permafrost. Reporter Jeff Glor and his team met up with WHRC scientist Dr. Sue Natali, who took the film crew into a permafrost tunnel, up in a helicopter to see the tundra, and into the remote Alaskan wilderness to one of her field research sites.

The story ran Thursday, October 19, on CBS This Morning, a news program with a daily audience of more than 3.3 million viewers.

Thanks to some excellent science journalism, and WHRC’s research, many people learned about permafrost and its climate implications for the first time yesterday.
