Educational Programs
The Woods Hole Research Center's education program may be divided into two
major divisions, one aimed at cultivating the future leaders of environmental
science through training and mentoring and the other, a program of public
outreach, focused on the dissemination of information related to our
core research programs.

The Polaris Project
The Polaris Project is a collaborative effort involving the Woods Hole Research Center, seven universities and colleges, and the Northeast Science Station in Cherskii Russia. The project focuses on field research experience for undergraduate students in the Siberian Arctic working across five different ecosystem types at a field station in remote northeastern Russia. Student Partners Project
Scientist Max Holmes, in concert with an international team of collaboratorshas created an innovative program - the Student-Partners Project - which will unite students, teachers, and scientists in advancing scientific understanding of the role of major arctic rivers in changing arctic and global systems. Mentoring Brazilian Students
Center
staff members serve as thesis advisors to Master's and Ph.D. students
at several Brazilian Universities
US universities including Boston University, Tufts, Yale, University
of Maine, Univerisity of Miami, University of Wisconsin. Brazilian
students expand their educational experience by participating in

Building for the Future
The
Research Center moved to a new campus in March of 2003. Designed
as a "high-performance building." and powered without
any onsite combustion of fossil fuels, the Ordway Campus is a demonstration
of how a building can be made to function as a living organism. Learn more » |
Russian Visiting Scholars
The
Center's Russian Visiting Scholars Program provides
Russian forest ecologists the opportunity to spend up to three
months in Woods Hole learning state-of-the art technologies used
in forest ecology, advancing shared goals in research on forests,
