This video features Anya Suslova of Siberia, who became excited about the work of a scientific research team travelling down the Lena River on her father’s ship when she was 13 years old. She had travelled with her father through childhood, and now began to help scientists draw water samples from the river. Team leader Dr. Max Holmes left 20 water bottles with Anya and returned five months later to find that she had diligently collected samples in various places through the winter. “I didn’t know that you can sample the Lena River and know something about global changes,” said Anya. “You can change the world!” Now 23, Anya has a Master of Science degree in Climate Science and Policy from TERI University in India.
